Part 3: Video Fact Sheet Series – Servicemembers Civil Relief Act – Housing Protections
This is Part 3 in a video series for service members and their families. As a service member you have protections for you and your family under federal law. This law is called the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA).
This law was made to help protect members of the military and their family who may have trouble with financial and legal issues because of military service.
This video fact sheet was produced in partnership with LegalTube Project and Stateside Legal.

- The mortgage foreclosure protection currently extends to one full year after the period of active duty (not the 90 day period mentioned in the video)
- On January 1, 2015, the SCRA’s expanded foreclosure protection will sunset, and the protection period will revert to its 2008 level: the period of active duty service plus ninety days.
